It has been shown to be an effective insecticide when applied to the whole body of rats. 4,4′-Dibromooctafluorobiphenyl has also been detected at low levels in the environment where it may be contributing to the global burden of chlorinated organic pollutants. Studies have shown that this chemical can biotransform into triclosan and other environmental monitoring products, such as linear range, dehydroabietic acid and dihedral.
