3,3'-Dihydroxydiphenylamine is a diazo compound that is used as a dyestuff. It has been isolated from the residue of naphthol and naphthylamine in the manufacture of dyes and also from coal tar. This substance is also known to be found in some plants such as legumes, coffee beans, and tea leaves. 3,3'-Dihydroxydiphenylamine can be used for impregnating textiles or for the production of sulphonic acid resins. It is light-resistant and does not react with benzene or other dyestuffs.
