2,5-Dichlorobenzyl cyanide is a nitrogenous compound that has been shown to be cytotoxic and have high cytotoxicity. It is an isomer of 2,5-dichlorobenzaldehyde with the same parameters but with a different class. The optimized parameters for cytotoxicity were determined by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. The detection limit of the method was found to be 0.1 mg/L in water, which can detect contaminants at concentrations as low as 0.2 mg/L. Recoveries were found to be over 95% in spiked samples and quantification was done using the calibration curve obtained from the calibration standards.
