3,5-Dichlorophenylacetic acid is a synthetic compound that belongs to the class of ionic compounds. It was first synthesized in the laboratory and has been shown to have potent inhibitory activity against lymphocytes. 3,5-Dichlorophenylacetic acid has also been shown to inhibit the growth of phthalic acid crystals in vitro, which may be due to its interaction with the crystal lattice. The structure of 3,5-Dichlorophenylacetic acid was determined using x-ray crystallography. This compound binds to anion receptors within the cell membrane and inhibits ion transport through these channels. This effect leads to a decrease in intracellular pH, which can lead to cell death by necrosis or apoptosis.
