7,3'-Dimethoxyflavone is a dietary flavonoid that is found in many plants. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of HL60 cells by inhibiting the activity of nuclear proteins and altering the nucleus. This compound also has an effect on cancer and can be used as a synthetic flavonoid for flavones or flavonols. 7,3'-Dimethoxyflavone may be able to reduce squamous cell carcinoma and other cancers by inhibiting the synthesis of DNA in cancer cells. It is also orally active, making it a good candidate for use as a therapeutic agent.
