2,6-Dihydroxypyridine Hydrochloride is a transition metal coordination compound. It has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity in mice when used as a carbon source. This drug also has genotoxic effects on the genome, as it inhibits DNA replication and transcriptional regulation. 2,6-Dihydroxypyridine Hydrochloride can be used to induce micronucleus formation in cells. Studies have shown that this drug is effective at doses of 10 µg/ml and higher, but inducing micronucleus formation may not be the desired effect for some applications.
