- Quinoline, 4-[p-(dimethylamino)styryl]-
4-Quinoline, also known as 4-(4-dimethylaminostyryl)quinoline (DMAS), belongs to the class of supramolecular compounds. It has been synthesized by using a donor molecule and an acceptor molecule. The binding constants for DMAS and its nitro groups have been determined by fluorescence measurements. This compound has shown anti-tumor activity in mice with cancer cells that are resistant to other drugs. DMAS also has a high degree of photostability and is therefore considered to be a good candidate for fluorescent imaging agents. The half-life of DMAS in rats is approximately 1 hour, which means this drug can be administered orally.
