2-(Difluoromethyl)Pyridine is a hydrogenated form of pyridine that is used in animal health for the treatment of chronic bronchitis and infectious diseases. 2-(Difluoromethyl)Pyridine inhibits the virus from infecting cells by blocking its ability to bind to dsDNA. This drug has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on cancer cells. The potent antiviral activity of 2-difluoromethylpyridine may be due to its ability to block the binding of the virus to host cell DNA, thereby preventing viral replication and transcription.
2-(Difluoromethyl)pyridine has been shown to inhibit dopamine uptake and increase dopamine release in rat brain synaptosomes, suggesting that it could be a potential agent for treating Parkinson's disease or other neurodegenerative diseases.
