2,3-Difluoro-6-bromobenzoic acid is a regioselective compound that is activated by butyllithium and potassium tert-butoxide. It can be used as a fluorinating agent for bromoarenes. The substituents on the fluoroarene molecule determine the regioselectivity of this compound. For example, if the substituent is chlorine, then the reaction will proceed with 2,3-difluoro-6-bromobenzoic acid to produce 2,3-difluorochlorobenzene. If the substituent is fluorine or fluoro, then the reaction will proceed with 2,3-difluorobenzene to produce 2,3-difluorofluorobenzene.
