- 2,2-Difluoro-5-hexyne-1,4-diamine
2,2-Difluorohex-5-Yne-1,4-Diamine is a biologically active amino acid that is found in mammalian cells. This compound is metabolized to 2,2-difluorohexanoic acid and then decarboxylated to 2,2-difluorohexanal. It has been shown to have a decarboxylase activity in vitro. In addition, it has been shown to inhibit monoamine oxidase type A by binding to the heme cofactor and inhibiting the oxidation of endogenous catechols and also inhibits mitochondrial decarboxylases. This amino acid may be used as a biochemical marker for ventral prostate cancer because it is present at high levels in this tissue.
