3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8-Dodecafluoro-1,9-Decadiene is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CF. It is a colorless liquid with a sweet odor and an activation energy of 30.2 kJ/mol. 3DDFD is soluble in butanol and can be used as an additive for fuel to inhibit corrosion and as a co-solvent for chlorinated solvents. The oxidation catalyst can be used to catalyze the conversion of 3DDFD to formaldehyde at temperatures below 400 °C. The reaction mechanism is not well understood due to the lack of experimental data.
3DDFD has been shown to have a high transport rate through hydrophobic membranes such as soybean oil and rapeseed oil at room temperature. This property makes it useful in industrial processes such as purification and separation of crude oil or water treatment.
