4-(2,4-Difluorophenyl)-2-methyl-2-cyclohexen-1-one is a nucleophilic compound that is unsaturated and has a constant boiling point. It reacts with electrophiles to form homoconjugates. This reaction is second order with respect to the concentration of the electrophile and first order with respect to the concentration of the nucleophile. The rate constant for this reaction is 7.8 x 10^5 L/mole*sec at 25 degrees Celsius. 4-(2,4-Difluorophenyl)-2-methyl-2-cyclohexen-1-one also reacts rapidly with isopropoxide to form an addition product. The transition state for this reaction has been shown to be stabilizing by quantum mechanics calculations and rate constants have been determined experimentally.
