1-[3,4-Dihydroxy-5-(Hydroxymethyl)Oxolan-2-Yl]-5-Fluoropyrimidine-2,4-Dione is a plant growth factor that inhibits the process of mineralization by binding to and inhibiting the function of certain enzymes involved in this process. It also has been shown to inhibit the growth of human tumor cells and promote their differentiation. This compound has been shown to be effective against herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1), which causes cold sores, by inhibiting viral replication. 1-[3,4-Dihydroxy-5-(Hydroxymethyl)Oxolan-2-Yl]-5-Fluoropyrimidine-2,4-Dione also has anticholinesterase activity and can impair muscle function.
