Ethyl cyclopropanecarboximidoate hydrochloride is a compound that inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-1β. Ethyl cyclopropanecarboximidoate hydrochloride has been shown to have a beneficial effect in animal models of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. This drug also has an inhibitory effect on the activation of Nod-like receptor protein 2 (NLRP2) and NLRP3 inflammasomes. Ethyl cyclopropanecarboximidoate hydrochloride is an isomeric mixture of two stereoisomers, R- and S-, that differ in their ability to activate NLRP3 inflammasomes. The active form of ethyl cyclopropanecarboximidoate hydrochloride is the R-enantiomer.
