2-Ethyl-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one is a benzoxazinone with a skeleton of 2 ethyl and 2 methyl. It is a synthetic product that has been optimized to increase its half life. This product can be used as an herbicide or phytotoxic agent. It has been shown to have a high degree of phytotoxicity against diboa and also has the ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria in vitro. The metabolite of this compound is 2-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one, which is produced by the metabolism of 2E2HBZO in the liver. This metabolite inhibits acetylcholine esterase and leads to paralysis and death of insects.
