Ethyl 6-bromo-4-chloroquinoline-3-carboxylate is a drug that inhibits the activity of protein kinases. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of telangiectasia and is being investigated as a probe for medicinal chemistry. It is an analog of irinotecan, which inhibits the enzyme topoisomerase 1, leading to DNA damage. This drug also has potential as a cancer therapeutic because it is orally bioavailable and has been shown to be mutated in vivo, which may make it more effective at inhibiting tumor growth. Ethyl 6-bromo-4-chloroquinoline-3-carboxylate binds to ATP and prevents the release of ADP, which leads to inhibition of protein synthesis.
