Ethyl octanoate is a fatty acid that belongs to the class of esters. This chemical can be extracted using solid phase microextraction (SPME) and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The GC-MS can detect ethyl octanoate at concentrations as low as 0.01 ppm.
