Ethyl 2-methoxyacetate is an organic compound that is a derivative of ethylene diamine. It can be produced by the addition of hydrochloric acid to methyl acetate or by the reaction of methylamine and ethylene diamine. Ethyl 2-methoxyacetate has a hydroxyl group that can react with amines to form amides or imides. It also reacts with methyl ethyl ketone to produce methyl 3-hydroxypropanoate.
