Informação sobre produto
- Benzofuran, 2-ethyl-3-methyl-
2-Ethyl-3-methylbenzofuran is an aromatic compound that is a derivative of benzofuran. It is prepared by reacting benzaldehyde with ethyl acetate and iodomethane. The cyclization reaction proceeds by the intramolecular addition of the ester to the carbonyl followed by acid-catalyzed hydrolysis. This reaction also yields chlorides, which are used in the preparation of 2-ethyl-3-methylbenzofuran. 2-Ethyl-3-methylbenzofuran can be acylated with various acids to produce different derivatives, such as acid chlorides and esters. A zinc powder or titanium tetrachloride will catalyze this reaction. The reactant ketoester undergoes refluxing with trichloride to produce 2-ethyl-3-methylbenzofuran.
