The hydrogen bonds of ethyl 2,4-dihydroxy-6-methylbenzoate are the result of an intramolecular hydrogen bonding between the benzoic acid group and the hydroxymethyl group. Ethyl 2,4-dihydroxy-6-methylbenzoate has also been shown to inhibit enzymes such as uv absorption and phenolic acids.
