Ethyl 2-(2-fluorophenyl)acetate is a chemical compound that is the result of the reaction of potassium and ethyl 2-bromoacetate. It has a molecular weight of 164.04 and a boiling point of 163°C. The product is an alkoxide with a heterocyclic ring, which can act as both nucleophile and electrophile in reactions with other compounds. Ethyl 2-(2-fluorophenyl)acetate can be synthesized by reacting ethylester with potassium t-butoxide and an aryl halide, such as bromine or chlorine. This reaction mechanism is shown below:
