3-Ethoxy-N,N-diethylaniline is a chemical that can act as a probe for copper ions. It has been used to detect copper ions in anions and to measure the photostability of organic compounds. This compound absorbs light at wavelengths between 350 nm and 400 nm, making it useful for detecting shifts in the absorption spectrum. 3-Ethoxy-N,N-diethylaniline also yields different quantum yields depending on whether it is in the singlet or triplet state. In its triplet state, this compound can be used to create singlet oxygen, which has many applications including enhancing fluorescence and singlet oxygen yield efficiency in organic materials.
