Ethylene glycol phenyl ether methacrylate (EGPE) is a reactive monomer that is used as a diagnostic agent. EGPE has high thermal expansion and can be used for the manufacture of optical devices. EGPE is also a light-emitting material that emits blue light when excited by ultraviolet radiation. It can also be used in the diagnosis of eye disorders such as retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration. EGPE is soluble in alcohols, which can be removed through distillation before use in other products.
