• Descrição: Emedastine difumarate is a 2-adrenergic receptor antagonist that is used as an antihistamine. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. Emedastine difumarate binds to histamine H1 receptors on the surface of mast cells and basophils, which inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory mediators, such as eosinophil cationic protein, chemiluminescence, and prostaglandins. This drug also blocks the activation of leukocytes that are involved in allergic reactions. Emedastine difumarate has been shown to be effective against seasonal allergies when administered before exposure to allergens and has a long-term efficacy.
