2-Ethoxynaphthalene is a polyunsaturated compound that has been used as a pharmacological agent. It is an electron donor to cationic surfactants and has been shown to have enzyme activities, such as proteolytic and microcapsule formation. 2-Ethoxynaphthalene also shows hypoglycemic effects in rats by increasing the level of insulin. This compound is soluble in water at low pH levels and is found in the leaves of plants with a neutral ph. 2-Ethoxynaphthalene has been isolated from the genus Diphenyl ether, which contains a fatty acid chain with two double bonds.
