Emamectin benzoate is a benzoate-based insecticide that has been reported to have high resistance in certain insect species. Emamectin benzoate is an analog of the avermectins and is toxic to insects, nematodes, and mollusks. The terminal residues of emamectin benzoate can be determined by using an analytical method that detects the presence of the drug in wastewater. Emamectin benzoate has been shown to be effective against pests such as mosquitoes, flies, and ticks. It also has a low toxicity to mammals at optimum concentrations.
