Ethyl dimethylphosphonoacetate is a carboxylate that has a nitrogen atom and phosphorus atom. The compound is an active methylene ester with a structure of CH2P(O)(OEt)2. Ethyl dimethylphosphonoacetate inhibits the activity of the receptor and has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the growth of bacteria. It also inhibits the production of nitric oxide in vitro, which may be due to its structural similarity to nitric oxide. This chemical can be used as an inhibitor for organic compounds, but it does not inhibit inorganic substances such as calcium carbonate.
