Ethyl 4-methoxybenzoylacetate is an organic compound with a molecular weight of 180.283 g/mol and chemical formula C14H14O4. It has a coumarin ring, which is responsible for the characteristic absorption at 340 nm. Ethyl 4-methoxybenzoylacetate has been synthesized from coumarin derivatives and it is used as a stabilizer in synthetic processes, such as esterification of glycerides. It also exhibits UV absorption at 260 nm and can be used to measure the concentration of nucleophilic compounds.
