Ethyl 3-aminocrotonate is a molecule that has the chemical formula CH3CH2C(O)NH2. It is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 54 °C. Ethyl 3-aminocrotonate has been used in an efficient method to produce acid conjugates, which are used as intermediates for the synthesis of felodipine and other pharmaceuticals. The molecule also displays vibrational, nmr spectra, intramolecular hydrogen and intermolecular hydrogen bonds.
The compound can be converted into chloride by reaction with hydrochloric acid or sodium chloride (NaCl). Ethyl 3-aminocrotonate is also found in crystallography studies of the hydrogen bonds between molecules.
