Ethyl 4-piperidone-3-carboxylate hydrochloride is a synthetic molecule that is chiral, thermogenic, and has the ability to inhibit fatty acid oxidation. It can be used to produce beige adipocytes and ampk activators. The compound was found to be an inhibitor of fatty acid synthase (FAS) in vitro, with a potency comparable to that of the FDA-approved drug orlistat.
