Ethyl 5-phenyl-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylate (EPPC) is a potent inhibitor of kinases, including receptor tyrosine kinases. It inhibits the activity of c-met, which is a receptor tyrosine kinase that is involved in the signaling pathways of bone morphogenetic protein and hepatocyte growth factor. EPPC also has inhibitory activity against tyrosine kinase, which is involved in cell growth and proliferation. This compound has selectivity for the inhibition of receptor tyrosine kinases over other types of protein kinases.
