Descrição:Ethyl 5-chloroindole-2-carboxylate is a pro-apoptotic agent that has been shown to inhibit the replication of HIV. It inhibits the reverse transcriptase and DNA polymerases in the virus, which prevents it from being replicated. Ethyl 5-chloroindole-2-carboxylate also induces apoptosis by alkylating the cysteine residues on the host cell's proteins. This drug is not active against other viruses, such as herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1). It has been shown to be an analog for cannabidiol (CBD), which binds to cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2.
