Ethyl D-(-)-Mandelate is a short-chain alcohol. It is a mixture of two enantiomers, the L and D forms. The L form is more stable in solution and has a higher boiling point than the D form. Ethyl D-(-)-Mandelate can be found as an impurity in many organic solvents, such as benzyl alcohol and dehydrogenase. This product is used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and chemical intermediates.
