Ethyl 3,3-Bis(methylthio)-2-cyanoacrylate is a reactive compound that can be used to form esters and amides. The synthesis of this compound is achieved by reacting sodium sulfide with anhydrous potassium carbonate in the presence of ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate. This reaction forms a thermally stable ester of ethyl 3,3-bis(methylthio)-2-cyanoacrylate. Ethyl 3,3-Bis(methylthio)-2-cyanoacrylate is a nucleophilic reagent that reacts with pyrazole derivatives to form amides.
