Ethyl 3-mercaptopropionate is a chemical compound that is used for the synthesis of polymers. It is obtained by the reaction between ethyl chloride and thiourea. Ethyl 3-mercaptopropionate can be recycled, so it does not need to be synthesized from scratch. It has a high affinity for chloride ions, which makes it useful in the production of polymer films.
