1-(4-Fluorophenyl)-4-[4-[(4-fluorophenyl)hydroxymethyl]piperidin-1-yl]butan-1-one (PFHB) is a small molecule that has been shown to have antitumor activity against tumor cell lines in vitro. PFHB also has metabolic effects, such as the ability to regulate plasma concentrations of growth factors, such as epidermal growth factor (EGF). This compound has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human cancer cells in culture and to induce apoptosis. In addition, PFHB has been used clinically in patients with blood disorders or other morphological abnormalities.
