2-Fluoro-5-methylbenzaldehyde is a chiral, enantioselective allylic alcohol that can be used as a ligand for palladium-catalyzed alkylation reactions. This compound has been shown to react with various nucleophiles in high yields and with high enantioselectivities. Additionally, this compound has been shown to react with dimethyl malonate under palladium catalyzed conditions to form an asymmetric hydrazone.
2-Fluoro-5-methylbenzaldehyde is soluble in water and other polar solvents and reacts readily with many nucleophiles at room temperature.
