3-Fluoro-5-hydroxybenzoic Acid is a pharmacological agent that has been shown to inhibit the activity of 3,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid in hamsters. 3,5-Dihydroxybenzoic acid is a metabolite of hydroxybenzoic acid and an agonist for the G protein-coupled receptor ligand-gated ion channels. This drug has also been shown to improve dyslipidemia in mice by inhibiting 3-hydroxybenzoic acid synthesis. This leads to increased ligand binding and decreased levels of cholesterol and triglycerides. The synergistic effect of this drug with other drugs is not yet known.
