2-Fluoro-4-nitro-1-(trifluoromethyl)benzene is a chemical compound that has been shown to be an effective treatment for babesiosis and life-threatening trypanosomiasis. 2-Fluoro-4-nitro-1-(trifluoromethyl)benzene binds to the surface of trypanosomes and inhibits the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and proteins. It also has a spectrum that includes Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium vivax, and Toxoplasma gondii. This drug is currently being studied in animal models and has not yet been approved by the FDA for human use.
