4-Fluoro-2-iodoaniline is a ligand that can bind to copper and chlorine ions, forming metal complexes. It also has pharmacological properties, such as agonism of the opioid receptor. 4-Fluoro-2-iodoaniline has been shown to be an effective analgesic agent in animal models of chronic pain. It binds to opioid receptors on peripheral neurons, inhibiting the release of neurotransmitters that are responsible for pain sensation. In addition, 4-fluoro-2-iodoaniline can react with potassium thioacetate to form sulfoxide ligands that are used in catalysis reactions.
