Flubendiamide is a synergistic insecticide that is used to control insects in agriculture and forestry. It is a benzoate derivative of chlorantraniliprole. Flubendiamide has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of detoxification enzymes, such as carboxylesterase and cytochrome P450, which are important for the metabolism of xenobiotics in insects. Flubendiamide also inhibits ryanodine receptor-mediated calcium release from the endoplasmic reticulum, leading to cytosolic calcium accumulation and subsequent death. The high resistance of this compound to hydrolysis by enzymes makes it an attractive candidate for use as an insecticide.
