Descrição:FTI-2628 is a pharmacologic agent that has been shown to have an effect on the cell cycle. It is a small molecule that prevents prenylation of proteins and thereby alters the function of the insulin-like growth factor receptor (IGF-1R). FTI-2628 also inhibits matrix metalloproteinase 13 (MMP-13) expression by blocking transcriptional activation of the gene. This drug has been shown to be effective in animal models for osteoarthritis, as well as inhibiting MMP-13 production in cells from patients with rheumatoid arthritis. FTI-2628 has also been shown to be effective in reducing the size of tumors in mouse models of cancer.
