(E,E)-Farnesyl bromide is a synthetic substrate that is used to study the enzyme guanine nucleotide-binding protein (G protein) in vitro. It has been proposed as an experimental model for chronic bronchitis and other diseases with light signal changes. The hydroxyl group of (E,E)-farnesyl bromide is essential for its function as a substrate in the reaction with G proteins. Geranyl and benzyl groups are also involved in the catalytic mechanism of this enzyme. (E,E)-Farnesyl bromide can be used as a natural compound based on its chemical structures.
