Descrição

Fidexaban is a low molecular weight heparin with antithrombotic properties. It has been shown to be effective in preventing thrombosis, including pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis, and for the treatment of coronary artery disease. Fidexaban is a competitive inhibitor of heparin that binds to the active site of serine proteases. The binding prevents these enzymes from cleaving the substrate and leads to an increase in soluble guanylate cyclase activity, which inhibits platelet aggregation and reduces blood clotting. Fidexaban also binds to proteins on the surface of red blood cells and inhibits platelet aggregation. This drug is classified as a low molecular weight heparin because it has a molecular weight of less than 5000 Da.
