6-Fluoro-1-hexanol is a butanol with a fluorine atom in the 6th position. This molecule has been shown to be soluble in water, resulting in colloidal particles. 6-Fluoro-1-hexanol can also undergo hydrogenation reactions, which are important for the production of polymers and plastics. The mechanism of this reaction is not yet clear, but it has been hypothesized that this process may involve metal ions and anions. It has also been observed that 6-fluoro-1-hexanol interacts with micelles and surfactants. Absorption spectroscopy has shown that 6-fluoro-1-hexanol has a bimodal molecular weight distribution at room temperature and also exhibits an absorption band at 220 nm due to its fluorescence properties.
