Fenoxanil is a fungicide that belongs to the group of hydroxylated prothioconazole derivatives. It has bactericidal activity and can be used as a disinfectant. Fenoxanil has been shown to have synergic effects with other biocides, such as tebuconazole, in vitro and in vivo. This synergism is due to the presence of nitrogen atoms on the molecule that increase its solubility and inhibitory properties against bacteria. Fenoxanil can also be used in combination with amide-type chemicals for pest control, such as insecticides or acaricides. The analytical methods for fenoxanil are based on high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with ultraviolet detection (UV).
