4-Fluoro-3-methylbenzaldehyde is a potent, selective, and irreversible inhibitor of the epidermal growth factor receptor. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of several types of cancer cells in vitro, including those that are resistant to other anti-cancer drugs. 4-Fluoro-3-methylbenzaldehyde also inhibits tyrosine kinase activity, which is required for cell proliferation. The compound is currently being developed as a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of cancers such as breast cancer or leukemia.
