Descrição:3-(4-Fluorophenyl)propionic acid is an electrophilic compound that acts as a proton donor in the presence of chloride ion. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of cholinesterases, which are enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of acetylcholine at the synapse. 3-(4-Fluorophenyl)propionic acid also inhibits the formation of epoxides by reacting with trichophyton mentagrophytes. This compound is used in synthetic techniques and has been shown to have antituberculosis activity. 3-(4-Fluorophenyl)propionic acid is an agonist for butyrylcholinesterase, which is found in many tissues including brain and muscle tissue.
