Fmoc-Arg(Tos)-OH is a β-amino acid with cell culture and biological properties. It is an orally active peptidomimetic that can be used as a receptor binding agent to inhibit the activity of serine proteases. Fmoc-Arg(Tos)-OH has been shown to reversibly inhibit fibrinogen, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with this protein. Fmoc-Arg(Tos)-OH also has antidiabetic properties, which may be due to its reversible inhibition of the serine protease that plays a role in insulin degradation or secretion.
