Fmoc-D-Cysteine hydrate is a chiral thiol that is used in the synthesis of peptides. It has been used in solid phase peptide synthesis as a coupling agent with coumaryl and dehydroalanine to form peptides with desired sequences, monitored by optical properties and fluorescent or fluorescence. This compound has also been shown to be useful for the synthesis of chiral polymers, such as poly(L-glutamic acid)s. Fmoc-D-Cysteine hydrate has been shown to have optical properties that are sensitive to changes in pH, making it an ideal candidate for use in microscopy and other optical applications.
